HTC Desire V: Root and Install ClockworkMod Recovery via All-In-One Toolkit [Tutorial]

HTC Desire V users can now root and install ClockWorkMod (CWM) recovery on the device, thanks to a member of the XDA Developer's forum, who has released the All-In-One toolkit v1.0 for Desire V. Interested readers who wish to root and install CWM Recovery can check this tutorial below. IBTimes UK reminds its readers it will not be held responsible for any damage to the device during installation.

Note: The device will lose its warranty once it is rooted.

Pre-Requisites:

    • Ensure the device has at least 80 percent battery charge
    • Ensure apporpriate USB drivers are installed on your PC
    • Enable USB debugging
    • Make sure the device's bootloader is unlocked

To Install ClockWorkMod Recovery on HTC Desire V:

    • Extract the downloaded zip file to a folder in your PC
    • Connect the device to the PC
    • Run the executable file located in the extracted folder
    • On the toolkit window, choose ClockWorkMod under Recovery section and then click on Flash Recovery
    • Wait for a few seconds and CWM Recovery is now flashed

You have now installed CWM Recovery on HTC Desire V. To boot into CWM Recovery, switch the device off and press Volume Up and Power buttons to get the HBoot menu. Navigate to and select Recovery option

To Root HTC Desire V:

    • Boot the device into Recovery (to do so, choose Boot into Recovery under Commands section in the toolkit. Now, click on Do Command)
    • Once the device is in Recovery, choose Perm Root (GB/ICS) under Extras section in the toolkit and then click on Run
    • Reboot the device (you can do so by choosing Reboot Phone under Commands section in the toolkit and then click on Do Command)
    • Disconnect the device

Your HTC Desire V should now be rooted
